Ken Sawyer

Managing Director and Co-Founder

Mr. Sawyer is a Managing Director and Co-founder at Saints Capital. He has been selected as a member of the Forbes Midas list for several years, where he was recognized as one of the top 100 investors in venture capital globally.

Before co-founding Saints’ direct secondary activities with Mr. Quinlivan in 2000, Mr. Sawyer was the Head of Strategic Advisory Services and Mergers and Acquisitions at Volpe Brown Whelan & Co., a privately-held investment bank focused on emerging growth companies in the technology and healthcare industries. While at Volpe, Mr. Sawyer advised over 100 companies on strategic issues, assisted in completing over 50 M&A transactions totaling several billion dollars, assisted in completing several strategic private placements and IPOs, and reviewed and approved over 50 IPOs of internet and technology companies as a member of the Commitment Committee. Mr. Sawyer grew his department’s revenue by over eight times in his three years at Volpe Brown Whelan & Co.

Prior to working at Volpe Brown Whelan & Co., Mr. Sawyer was a Partner at Colman Partners and a Principal at Colman Furlong & Co. Mr. Sawyer also has operating experience as the CFO of New Image Industries, a publicly traded digital imaging company. He also has operating experience as a founder and CEO of several small private companies. Mr. Sawyer began his career at Morgan Stanley & Co.

Mr. Sawyer received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS with honors in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. At Stanford, Mr. Sawyer was elected as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. Mr. Sawyer also studied in France, Washington, D.C., and at the Copenhagen School of Business in Denmark.

 

    David Quinlivan

    Managing Director and Co-Founder

    Mr. Quinlivan is a Managing Director at Saints Capital.  Before co-founding Saints with Mr. Sawyer in 2000, Mr. Quinlivan was the Senior Vice President of Finance at InsWeb, a publicly traded company providing online insurance solutions. While at InsWeb, Mr. Quinlivan was integrally involved in the company’s fundraising efforts, including its initial public offering and played a key role in the areas of corporate development and corporate strategy.  Mr. Quinlivan was previously an investment banker at Credit Suisse First Boston with its Mergers and Acquisitions and Technology Groups. At CSFB, Mr. Quinlivan completed domestic and international transactions valued at over $10 billion in a wide variety of industries including technology, retail and consumer products.  He has also worked at the LEK Consulting Group, an international management consulting firm, providing strategic advice in the consumer technology, media, healthcare and transportation industries.

    Mr. Quinlivan received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA, cum laude, in Physics from Harvard University.  He received an MS in Physics from UCLA, where he also attended doctoral studies in solid state physics.  Mr. Quinlivan is the lead author of published scientific research on the electrical properties of high temperature

     

     

      Bob Keppler

      Chief Financial Officer

      Mr. Keppler is the Chief Financial Officer at Saints Capital.  Before joining Saints in 2007, he was CFO of Centennial Ventures for ten years.  Centennial Ventures managed over $1 billion of capital. Prior to Centennial, Mr. Keppler worked for 18 years at Total Petroleum (North America) LTD., a multi-billion dollar public petroleum company, departing as a senior financial officer of the company. He began his career as a certified public accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers.

      Mr. Keppler received a BA in Business from Capital University. He also completed the Executive Management Development Program at the University of Virginia Graduate Business School, and the Graduate Tax Program at the University of Denver.

              Spencer Clark

              Associate

              Mr. Clark joined Saints Capital in 2021 as a portfolio analyst. Before joining Saints, Mr. Clark worked at MicroVentures, an online investment platform offering investments in early and late-stage private companies, where he led due diligence on dozens of investment opportunities. Prior to his time at MicroVentures, Mr. Clark interned at SigmaRoc Plc, a buy-and-build group that invests in and operates construction material assets in the UK and Northern Europe, Deloitte, and The Walt Disney Company in the finance department.

              Mr. Clark received a MSc in Management with an emphasis in Finance from University College London with first class honors, and a BA in Accounting from Michigan State University.

                  Allison Goldberg

                  Venture Partner

                  Ms. Goldberg is a Venture Partner of the Saints Capital media Venture fund. Prior to this, Ms. Goldberg served as a Partner at Advancit Capital, a venture capital fund focusing on early stage investments in consumer and media technology companies. She previously served as Group Managing Director & Senior Vice President of Time Warner Investments, where she ran the group focused on investing up to $25 million in private companies to generate both strategic value and financial returns. Prior to joining Time Warner in July 2001, Allison was an Associate at Groupe Arnault, investing in and managing new media and technology investments for the private holding company of the Chairman of LVMH. Allison started her career in the Global Media Group, Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley.

                  Ms. Goldberg received her B.S. in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

                    Scott Halsted

                    Mr. Halsted is a Managing Director of Saints Capital Everest and Granite funds. Prior to joining Saints Capital in 2008 as part of Saints’ acquisition of Boston Scientific's venture assets, Mr. Halsted was a Managing Member at Morgan Stanley Ventures, where he worked from 1987 to 2007. As co-head of the health practice at Morgan Stanley Ventures, Mr. Halsted managed over $300 million of investments in over 40 companies, and was responsible for making growth equity investments in emerging healthcare companies. Before his investment career, Mr. Halsted worked in the medical technology field in the areas of product design and business development for Intermedics Orthopedics and Hexcel Medical.

                    Mr. Halsted received his MM degree from Northwestern University and his AB degree from Dartmouth College. He also received a BE degree in Biomechanical Engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College.

                        Allison Goldberg

                        Ms. Goldberg is a Venture Partner of the Saints Capital media Venture fund.
